This is our most complete journey — beginning in the Hindu Kush at Chitral, passing through the Kalash valleys, crossing Shandur Pass, and spending a week in the Karakoram from Hunza to Deosai. Fourteen days is a commitment, and this journey earns every one of them. By the end you will have crossed three great mountain ranges, touched the Chinese border at 4,693 m, spent two nights on a 4,000 m plateau, and seen more of the real north than almost any traveller before you.
Begin in the Hindu Kush — a flight to Chitral, the westernmost entry point to the north. Private transfer to your riverside lodge. Dinner beside the Chitral River.
A private walking tour of Chitral's old quarter, the Shahi Mosque, and the fort. Drive upriver through dramatic gorges in the afternoon.
Drive into the Bumburet Valley — one of the three Kalash valleys — for a respectful, privately guided morning among one of the oldest living cultures in the region. Afternoon at leisure in the valley.
Cross the legendary Shandur Pass (3,700 m) — the world's highest polo ground — a full day's scenic drive descending to Gilgit. Overnight in Gilgit.
The Karakoram Highway north to Hunza. Arrive as the valley opens and Rakaposhi appears. Heritage hotel check-in, welcome dinner.
Baltit and Altit Forts in the morning, Eagle's Nest at dusk — the full Hunza day.
Drive to Attabad Lake, across by private boat, then on to the Passu Cones and — if the season allows — a private excursion to Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m) at the China border, one of the highest paved border crossings on earth.
Return to Gilgit for a domestic flight to Skardu. The approach reveals the whole Karakoram from above.
